Summary:

On Sunday, September 11, the second day of the Grand Opening Festivities for Hong Kong Disneyland, the Park unveils three exciting new attractions and shows with special dedication ceremonies.

Space Mountain -- This longtime favorite Disney attraction, a space-themed, indoor roller-coaster is dedicated today at Hong Kong Disneyland. Bob Iger, President and CEO-elect helps cut the ribbon that sets off mini-rockets to officially launch Space Mountain. Located in Tomorrowland, Space Mountain is one of the few attractions to be featured at every Disneyland-style theme park around the world.

Festival of the Lion King -- Michael Eisner, Disney's Chief Executive Officer, gives the opening address for the premiere of Festival of the Lion King -- a live spectacle of music and dance in celebration of Disney's classic animated feature film. This Broadway-caliber show transforms the 2,250-seat theater into a fantastic setting with spectacular costumes, energized dancing, and performances by an aerialist and fire knife dancers. Festival of the Lion King is located in Adventureland.

Disney on Parade -- Main Street comes alive each day with the pageantry of a parade with nearly 100 performers and technicians in this lavish moving spectacle at Hong Kong Disneyland Park. The gala floats include a 23-foot tall inflatable Mickey Mouse that leads the Hong Kong Disneyland Marching Band. Band Leader Mickey is one of the largest moving inflatables ever used in a Disney park parade.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, which includes a theme park, two hotels and a recreation area, was more than five years in the making is set to open Sept. 12, 2005. Hong Kong Disneyland is a joint venture of The Walt Disney Company and the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR Government). As Disney's first vacation resort in the region, Hong Kong Disneyland will be the flagship of the entire Disney brand in China and a strong platform for company growth in new markets. The Vacation Kingdom will employ 5,000 cast members. The Hong Kong SAR Government estimates the project will generate a present economic value of HK$148 billion (US$19 billion) in benefits to Hong Kong over a 40-year period.
