'Operation PetSafe' Evacuates Dogs - by Jet - from Hurricane Zone
TO: Airline Reporters, News Editors, Assignment Editors and

WHAT: Continental Airlines will operate a charter flight to relocate up
to 100 dogs - including 50 pregnant ones - that were rescued from a
shelter damaged during Hurricane Katrina and are ready for
adoption.
The emergency all-canine flight is taking dogs from the St. Francis
Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi to care givers in California.
First 50 pregnant dogs will disem-bark at San Diego, where
volunteers from the Helen Woodward Animal Center will place them
with loving families waiting to adopt them.
The flight will then proceed to San Francisco where volunteers from
several chapters of the San Francisco Bay Area Humane Society will
place the remaining dogs in adoptive homes.
The flight is being arranged by PetRelocations.com out of Austin,
Texas, and funded by an anonymous benefactor.
